Burnby Hall Gardens

Within 20 minutes walking distance from the Bungalow, a good few hours can be spent at Burnby Hall Gardens, a firm favourite for families with children of all ages. Visit the lake with its bright and vibrant water lilies and hungry fish waiting to be fed.

  • Relax in the Lilypad Cafe.
  • Explore the various gardens, including the Secret Garden, The Victorian Garden and the Stumpery.
  • Visit the museum dedicated to the travels of Major Percy Stewart and the eight World tours he undertook between 1906 and 1926.

 

Pocklington Arts Centre

Pocklington Arts Centre is a not-for-profit organisation run mainly by local volunteers and hailed as East Yorkshires Premier Arts Venue. In the centre of Pocklington the centre is a 15 minute walk from the Bungalow.

  • The cinema shows both adults and kids films and special screenings during the holidays.
  • Live children’s events and plays throughout the year with a special program during the school holidays.
  • Musical theatre summer schools.

 

Francis Scaife Leisure Centre

Francis Scaife is a leisure centre located in Pocklington, a 15 minute walk from The Bungalow.

Facilities include a 20m indoor heated pool and a range of activities including badminton and squash.

Burnby Equestrian Centre

Burnby Equestrian Centre is a 10 minute drive from The Bungalow, and offer a range of equestrian activities for all levels and all ages (4 years and up).

Activities include pony days, riding lessons or hacking in the gorgeous countryside in The Yorkshire Wolds.

Swirlz Gelato Icecream Shop

Swirlz is a fabulous little ice cream parlour based in the centre of Pocklington.

Making their famous Italian Gelato and also serving coffees, hot chocolate, milkshakes, soft ice cream, smoothies, waffles, slush, ice cream and donuts.

Things To Do Around Pocklington  at Smile Cafe

Smile Cafe, is located at the Mile Farm Shop, a 30-seater cafe in Pocklington with an indoor soft play area designed for under 5s – including a double slide and soft mats.

Kids activities in Pocklington

Plus, there’s an outdoor play paddock with picnic tables, a shelter and children’s ride-on tractors.

The Mile farm shop is a 20 minute walk, or 4 minute drive from The Bungalow.

Pocklington Canal Boat Trips – Melbourne

The Pocklington Canal Amenity Society run short 30 minute trips at the canal in the village of Melboure, a 12 minute drive from the bungalow (30 minute cycle!).

LONGER TRIPS can be booked at other times. Most of these trips are booked for groups but we also run longer trips for small groups on some Saturdays.

Allerthorpe Park

Allerthorpe Lakeland Park is a 10 minute drive of 20 minute cycle from The Bungalow and set in 53 acres of grounds and lakes.

Offering a variety of watersports, including an aquapark, canoeing, fishing, paddle boarding and a Lakeside cafe.
